Orlando Magic: Markelle Fultz and Jonathan Isaac

Nikola Vucevic is the only recent All-Star on the roster, and Aaron Gordon might be the closest to making an All-Star Game next, but the charm of the Orlando Magic lies in its two young question marks: Jonathan Isaac and Markelle Fultz.

Isaac is a far more proven commodity, but the uncertainty revolves around how high his ceiling might actually go. He’s hardly ever mentioned in the same vein as the league’s up-and-coming unicorns, but even if he’s not quite as rare, he’s at least a centaur thanks to his defensive prowess, multi-positional versatility and emerging offensive game. If he gets that 3-point shot down and the Magic figure out a functional frontcourt rotation, Isaac has the potential to graduate to minotaur status.

As for Fultz, his intrigue is based on his pre-draft billing as the consensus No. 1 pick in a talented rookie class, the struggles it’s taken him to get to where he is and the (limited) flashes of former greatness he’s showed in preseason. He’s not a superstar-in-the-making just yet, and his ceiling seems considerably lower than it did three years ago, but you can be guaranteed his minutes will be put under the microscope nonetheless.

The Magic are looking to build on last year’s playoff appearance and added Al-Farouq Aminu over the summer, but even without mentioning Mohamed Bamba, Orlando’s most captivating players are still 22 years or younger.
