2. Baylor Bears

Rank: 18 | Opponent: Oklahoma State Cowboys | Time: Saturday, Oct. 19, 4:00 p.m. ET

Despite the fact that the Baylor Bears are 6-0 on the 2019 college football season, they are listed as 2.5-point underdogs against the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Stillwater for Week 8, courtesy of The Action Network. This is despite the fact that the Cowboys have been a bit inconsistent this season, posting a 4-2 record to this point, while the Bears have strong wins over Iowa State and a frisky Texas Tech team. So even in light of the point spread, OSU beating Baylor should be considered an upset.

If there’s one thing that gives you pause about Baylor, it’s that their defense may not be as good as some thought given what happened against Texas Tech last week. Though the Bears have given up 17.8 points per game on the year, they conceded 30 points to the Red Raiders in a double-overtime victory. And though Charlie Brewer and the Bears offense has been good in 2019, their improved defense has vaulted them to their undefeated start.

Should that be the case, they could be in trouble, especially considering that Sarodorick Thompson rushed for 153 yards on the Bears last week. Oklahoma State still has no problem throwing the ball with young Spencer Sanders at quarterback but running back Chuba Hubbard is the heart of their offense, having already rushed for 1,094 yards and 13 touchdowns in six games.

Because of the caliber of these offenses, you might expect a shootout. However, the recipe for an upset is the Cowboys riding Hubbard to control the game. If they can gash Baylor’s defense on Saturday afternoon in Stillwater, the Bears may not have the consistent offense to keep up and could ultimately suffer their first defeat of the season.
