Fantasy football picks: Week 7 FanDuel GPP breakdown
Josh Jacobs – Josh was one of the most hyped rookies coming into this season, and we are about to finally reap the benefits. On the year, Jacobs leads the team with 57% of the snaps, while getting 68% of the snaps in week five. That also so happened to be his best performance of the season, rushing the ball 26 times, for 123 yards, and two touchdowns. He had not scored a touchdown since the first game of the season. Now he has had some tough match-ups, against Minnesota, Indy, Chicago, and Denver. This will be his best match-up on the year, against a Green Bay defense that is allowing the fourth-most points against running backs. They also rank 26th with a 2.9% DVOA against the rush. Jacobs also comes at a greater discount compared to the other high-end backs.
Joe Mixon – This is the cheapest that I have ever seen Mixon since he has taken over as a starting running back. He was frequently priced in the 8k range most of last year but has since fallen to 6.1k. To put it in perspective, Frank Gore is $100 cheaper, and backs such as Hyde, and Coleman are more expensive. He is seeing 53% of the snaps and is basically splitting time with Gio Bernard which is troubling. Overall it has been a pretty bad season for Mixon, but this is a get it right game against the Jaguars, who just traded away their best defensive player. I am sure people will be flocking to Tyler Boyd, who is a good play, but nobody will look at Mixon as a viable option. Jacksonville gives up the sixth-most points to the running back position, ranking dead last with a 11.3% DVOA against the rush. I am a firm believer that Mixon is still a good running back, and for that price, I have no problem taking a shot on him in tourneys.
Derrick Henry – Well, the Titans season is all but over as they have now benched Marcus Mariotta in favor of Ryan Tannehill. While I think it is the right move, it doesn’t change the fact that this team flat out sucks. Henry is the last man standing for Tennessee, and he may legitimately get 30 carries in this game. I am not a firm believer that Tannehill is going to be that much better than Mariotta, and I do think that the Titans will take a safe approach and just run the ball. The Chargers are giving up the 10th most points to the running back position, ranking 22nd in DVOA against the rush. Henry is cheap, he is averaging almost 20 carries per game, and may be the only source of offense for the Titans, which is perfect for our final GPP running back.
