EPL DFS Defenders

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool, $11) – Alexander-Arnold is the best fantasy defender on FanDuel and that is no longer up for debate.  He’s averaging 25.5 fantasy points per game which I haven’t seen any defender sustain over a whole season.  He has all the freedom in the world from Klopp to venture up the field and act as an extra winger which has led to 3.5 chances created per game.  Additionally, he gets more defensive peripherals than most of your more traditional defenders do.  He’s the clear number 1 option at defender on this slate and essentially the only reason you’d play a non-Liverpool attacker.

More from DFS

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Manchester United, $9) – Wan-Bissaka looks ready to return to the starting lineup for United.  He’s a defensive hound who mostly relies on tackles for fantasy value but can also add in interceptions and clearances readily.  He only has one game with less than 13 fantasy points this season, which speaks to his floor.  He’s also in a good matchup here at home against Liverpool.  With the masses on TAA or someone cheap, Wan-Bissaka could go overlooked in a plus matchup.  Harry Maguire ($7) is a decent play in this matchup as well if you need to save the money and want a defender against Liverpool.

Andrew Robertson (Liverpool, $8) – Robertson is your way to getting exposure to Liverpool’s attack from a defender for $3 cheaper than TAA.  Robertson has 2 assists recently.  He’s gone for 15+ fantasy points in half of his games this year.  He’s creating 1+ chances per game to go along with a solid number of defensive peripherals.  He’s right in no-man’s land as far as defender pricing which should lead to low ownership.  Many people will try to find the extra $3 for TAA or pay down at DEF to get more stud attackers.

Joel Matip (Liverpool, $5) – Matip is the obvious choice for anyone paying down at defender.  You can get your Liverpool guy who should get you a clean sheet bonus for cheap.  Plus, Matip is no slouch fantasy-wise with 6/6 games in double digits.  Again, on a full slate I would not be considering Matip here with United limiting his peripherals, but he looks great for $5 on this single gamer.
