Fantasy football rankings – Quarterbacks

Week six was a great week for my quarterback predictions, as I accurately predicted seven of the top 10 quarterbacks. I had Matt Ryan and Deshaun Watson flip-flopped at one and three, Lamar Jackson in my top six, Kyler Murray and Russell Wilson flip-flopped at four and five, and Tom Brady ranked within one spot of his finishing position as QB7.

On the other end of things, I correctly predicted off games for guys such as Jared Goff, Joe Flacco, Daniel Jones, Marcus Mariota, and Josh Rosen. I thought Kirk Cousins would have a solid game but didn’t quite have him breaking into the top 10. Poor performances from Patrick Mahomes, Gardner Minshew, Teddy Bridgewater, and Jameis Winston highlighted some of my bigger misses on the week.

There are a ton of great quarterback options in week seven, so let’s get to this week’s rankings.

  1. Deshaun Watson HOU vs IND
  2. Lamar Jackson BAL vs SEA
  3. Josh Allen BUF vs MIA
  4. Russell Wilson SEA vs BAL
  5. Kyler Murray AZ vs NYG
  6. Matt Ryan ATL vs LAR
  7. Jared Goff LAR vs ATL
  8. Dak Prescott DAL vs PHI
  9. Jacoby Brissett IND vs HOU
  10. Daniel Jones NYG vs AZ
  11. Gardner Minshew JAC vs CIN
  12. Aaron Rodgers GB vs OAK
  13. Tom Brady NE vs NYJ
  14. Carson Wentz PHI vs DAL
  15. Jimmy Garoppolo SF vs WAS
  16. Kirk Cousins MIN vs DET
  17. Sam Darnold NYJ vs NE
  18. Philip Rivers LAC vs TEN
  19. Matthew Stafford DET vs MIN
  20. Andy Dalton CIN vs JAC
  21. Derek Carr OAK vs GB
  22. Mitchell Trubisky/Chase Daniel CHI vs NO
  23. Teddy Bridgewater NO vs CHI
  24. Ryan Tannehill TEN vs LAC
  25. Ryan Fitzpatrick MIA vs BUF
  26. Case Keenum WAS vs SF

Deshaun Watson has been one of the most consistent players in fantasy this year and should benefit from a divisional shootout with the Colts. Lamar Jackson just ran all over the Bengals, and while Seattle is a much tougher match up, Jackson is proving to be match up proof with his arm and legs.

Josh Allen has the best match up this week and should be able to single-handedly demolish the Dolphins, similar to what Jackson did to the Bengals last week. I think Jared Goff will have a bounce back game against a terrible Falcons pass defense after a very bad outing against San Fran in week six.

With Allen and Dak Prescott as the exceptions, you’ll notice that the rest of the top 10 QBs play against each other in week seven. Game script is essential to take into account when deciding who the best plays of the week are, and I think SEA vs BAL, LAR vs ATL, AZ vs NYG, and HOU vs IND will all be shootouts that will benefit both quarterbacks in the game, fantasy-wise.

I think Minshew-Mania will get back on track against Cincinnati, Dak Prescott will continue to expose a struggling Eagles secondary, and Jacoby Brissett and Daniel Jones will be surprise top 10 QBs this week due to strong match ups. I also think Sam Darnold plays better against the Patriots than most QBs to this point and better than most will expect.

Guys that I think will struggle include Philip Rivers, Matthew Stafford, Derek Carr, and Teddy Bridgewater. These quarterbacks face the toughest pass defenses in the league and should only be played if you don’t have any other options that are higher in the rankings, and Case Keenum and Ryan Fitzpatrick are must-sits even in GPP DFS plays with their tough match ups and weak offenses.
