DraftKings Showdown: Cheap Options

Tavon Austin – $4,400

With Amari Cooper sidelined last week, Tavon Austin played 93% of snaps, catching five of six passes. If Cooper is out, he will be in my flex considerations.

If Cooper is active though, it makes it harder to justify his price-tag of $4400 as he has only seen 2% of the team target share so far this season. I would limit my exposure to no more than 25% should Cooper be active for Sunday nights game.

Devin Smith – $2,800

Another player that saw a huge uptick in snaps with Cooper going out early last week was Devin Smith. Last week he played 96% of snaps and caught four of seven targets.

While he does not have as many specialized plays for him that Austin does, his $1600 in savings is much more tolerable should Cooper be active. He is the best Cowboy cheap option at his price should Cooper sit, if Cooper is in I will limit him to less than 25% of my builds.

Tony Pollard – $2,000

There have been some whispers that Pollard sees additional work in the passing game with the injury to Cooper. Those talks have been about him seeing time in the slot not out of the backfield which would really increase his values as Elliott is unlikely to come off the field.

If he gets moved outside for this game, he has slate breaking ability at just $2000. While I am not saying to insert him into every one of your lineups, he is an intriguing play should they move him outside. If you have questions about his ability out of the slot, google his Memphis highlights and those worries will be put to bed rather quickly.

Cedrick Wilson – $1,800

I am only considering Wilson if Cooper is out. He saw 61% of snaps with Cooper sidelined meaning he is the 4th receiver in the receiver rotation as Gallup, Austin, Smith are ahead of him. He would need an Eagles early lead to increase his playing time and boost his value for this slate as he is unlikely to play as many snaps with a competitive game script.

Dallas Goedert – $1,400

This is the best price on the slate as the Eagles run a ton of 12 personnel. Over the past two weeks Goedert has seen above 70% of the snaps and has been targeted 11 times. He is one of my core plays at $1400 as he should be priced in the 5k range.

Mack Hollins – $400

A deep-threat that should continue to see playing time with Jackson out is Mack Hollins. At $400 he too is far too cheap and capable of breaking the game open with just one catch. He has seen 62% of snaps this season and 20 targets on the year, like Goedert Hollins is too cheap this week.

DraftKings Showdown: Special Teams / Defensive Flex Options

Cowboys – $3,800

The Cowboys defense has struggled so far this season. With a division rival and potentially multiple starters on the offense out, the Cowboys defense will need to rise up and give its best effort. I would not have more than 10% of the Cowboys defense in my builds as the total is saying that this should be a higher scoring game.

I would build a few contrarian lineups that are geared more towards a lower scoring game script.

Brett Maher – $3,600

I prefer Elliott to Meyer as the Cowboys have one of the better red-zone scoring offenses in the league scoring a touchdown on 65% of trips.

Jake Elliott – $3,400

While the Eagles also have a fantastic offense in the red-zone scoring touchdowns on 70% of red-zone trips, I will give the slight nod to Elliott as my favorite kicker on the slate. Communication is always tough on the road, which could slow down this offense in the red-zone.

Eagles – $3,200

If Amari Cooper, Tyron Smith and La’el Collins are out, this Eagles defense gets a boost in what could turn into a low scoring ground and pound type of game.

The Eagles front seven is very good and they have quality pass-rushers that are more than capable of getting to the quarterback. Be sure to match your special teams plays with your game scripts as it’s unlikely the opposing quarterback goes off while your defense puts up points.

DraftKings Showdown: Game Script Thoughts

The Cowboys opened as a 2.5 point home favorite with a total of 48.5. There has been little movement as the total has risen to 49 while the spread is still 2.5.

If the Cowboys are without both tackles and a limited Cooper, I like the Eagles controlling both lines of scrimmage and the game.

If both tackles are in, the Cowboys should be able to have some success in the air and this game is more likely to shootout. I like the over if both Cowboys tackles play, if they’re out go with the Eagles plus the points.
