8. Sage Surratt, WR, Wake Forest

Though the Wake Forest Demon Deacons suffered their first loss of the 2019 season last week in a shootout against Louisville and lost quarterback Jamie Newman, wide receiver Sage Surratt continued to put up monster numbers. And even with Sam Hartman taking over at quarterback in Week 8 against Florida State, the sophomore wide receiver didn’t slow down as he put up another huge outing.

Despite the fact that Wake Forest had trouble finding the end zone, Surratt still managed seven catches for a huge 170-yard day at the office. The Demon Deacons star now has 53 catches for 881 yards and nine touchdowns on the season. He’s certainly not a player that was heavily on the Heisman radar early in the year but his performance in 2019 has been undeniable and consistent to where he must be in the conversation.

7. J.K. Dobbins, RB, Ohio State

Perhaps the thing hurting J.K. Dobbins’ Heisman case the most is the fact that he’s on the same team as his quarterback, Justin Fields. If both weren’t manning the Ohio State offense, Dobbins might well be sniffing the top five. With the signal-caller taking away touches and touchdowns, though, Dobbins has to settle for just being in the top 10 as he comes off of a Friday night effort against Northwestern in which he ran amok over the Wildcats.

In the 49-point victory, Dobbins only had 18 carries but still ran for 121 yards and a touchdown while also catching three balls for 30 yards and another score. That now gives the junior running back 947 yards on 134 carries and seven touchdowns while also having two receiving touchdowns as well. As Ohio State has been rolling, the star running back has been a guiding force and undeniably deserves a firm spot in the top 10.
