DFS NBA Love Like Leave – Opening Night

Power Forward

Love

Anthony Davis (12,100): I basically wrote the reasons for playing Anthony Davis in my Lebron paragraph but there is other factors that support AD. Without Paul George, Leonard is the only All NBA defensive forward the Lakers have to deal with, and he’s a much better matchup for Lebron than AD.

This, as well as the desire for Lebron to run the point, leaves Davis with the chance to be the first choice scorer, which he can do early and often. The Brow is about to show the world just how good he is.

Like

Nicolo Melli/Jaxson Hayes (3,500): With Williamson being out, the door is open for Melli and Hayes to get more minutes. I think Hayes offers more, but Melli will likely get more minutes and usage, given his ability to shoot the 3.

Playing Davis and Kawhi/Siakam/Holiday means you need salary relief, and when in doubt, play the usage, and the usage is Melli. He offers more of a floor than most min-priced options, and his ceiling is considerably higher as he can rack up points in a hurry.

Leave

Serge Ibaka (6,000): There is a fair amount of chatter surrounding Ibaka and his ability to grab a bigger share of the offence. I don’t buy it, as Ibaka’s skill set is much better suited to hard screens and good ball movement than it is a volume scorer or passer.

The mid range is dying, and Ibaka is a mid range specialist. He doesn’t offer a nearly solid enough floor for me to play him tonight, except in dart GPP lines (As opposed to Davis, he is in 2/16 of my lineups).
