FanDuel NBA Breakdown – Value Plays

JJ Redick (4,800) – This is a likely candidate to grab a few extra minutes each game while Zion recovers from his knee injury. JJ is a shoot first, ask questions later type of player, and that is something I will always have interest in for my value plays. He is used to logging heavy minutes for the Sixers, and was starting in most of those games for them. The only problem with him is when the shot isn’t falling, JJ will not hit value for you. Still, without lock-down defender Danny Green to guard him on the perimeter, Redick should be able to come off those screens and line up that beautiful three point shot we all love to see.

Dwight Howard (5,100) – I really can not remember the last time I saw this low of a price tag on Dwight. He is obviously far past his prime, and is no longer spotted dunking from the foul line with a cape, but I think this is a little cheap for him. He should log between 20-25 minutes, depending on his foul situation. I would expect him to play as much as possible, while the Lakers will try and manage his load since it is the start of the season, but the He still offers plenty of rebound, and block upside, and could easily get you 7x value if he can stay out of foul trouble.

Rajon Rondo/Alex Caruso (4,900 – 4,400) – This play depends on which one of these guys starts as both are listed as questionable. I honestly can not tell you which one will play, both might even play, or both could even sit out. While I think that is the least likely option, we have to be prepared for the worst. Rondo is obviously the better of the two, and if he is playing he will start, and should log pretty decent minutes. Even at his age, Rajon is a triple-double threat each time he steps on the court, and has massive upside in a game where he will be assisting Anthony Davis, and LeBron James.
