FanDuel NHL blue line power plays: Oct. 22 main slate

Top FanDuel NHL Wings: Oct. 22
OK, this is where things get interesting for this slate. Yes, we have some attractive pieces to play with at the center position. But, the winger position is absolutely loaded with top offensive talent, currently red-hot and among the top goal-scorers or total points in the league.
I’ll start with the Bruins’ David Pastrnak ($8,700) who started the season, in the first two games, with no goals or assists. He followed that up with at least one goal or assist in each of the last six games, totaling nine games and six assists.
Pasta has at least one goal AND assist four of those six games. We also know he’ll have some power play chances, heavily involved in the B’s man advantage unit, and likely peppers a solid four to five shots on goal. This is your top play on offense for this slate, and on home ice the Maple Leafs could struggle to keep Pasta off the scoring sheet.
My next favorite option is another hot player who is likely to bounce back against the Blackhawks after a relatively quite night against the Flyers in Philly. Mark Stone ($7,700) did register an assist last night, but couldn’t get a shot on goal. That’s odd, considering he had three to five per game in seven of his previous eight games.
Stone isn’t quite at dynamic as Pastrnak right now, but he does have a goal or assist in nine of the Golden Knights first ten games. That’s incredible consistency, and expecting a 20+ FanDuel NHL night from Stone seems reasonable tonight.
Next, I’ve already mentioned how I like Evander Kane ($7,200) against his old Sabres team. That being said, this could be a dicey play. Kane was off to a hot start, with four goals and two assists in his first five games.
But, Evander’s biggest game was a hat-trick and assist effort against the Hurricanes. That game yielded 53 FanDuel NHL points and is the main reason his FPPG is above 20 per game. However, he also had a goal against a typically stingy Predators team and an assist against the Blackhawks.
Kane didn’t score against the Sabres on Saturday, but he did have a high seven shots on goal. I suspect Kane will continue to fire the puck toward the net against his old team in his old home, so I think the upside here is attractive.
That being said, I also think the up and down results in the scoring sheet could present some risk for this price, and he’ll likely be highly owned given his average point-per-game result so far this season.
There are some attractive pivot options from those top three. For example, stacking the Golden Knights with Max Pacioretty ($7,000) is a solid move. I also think Broke Boeser ($7,100) could be a sneaky one-off play against the Red Wings.
If you’re looking for better value, Rickard Rakell ($5,900) is a mid-salary range play with a hot Ducks team in Nashville. But my favorite mid-salary range play is Nick Schmaltz ($5,000) for the Coyotes against the Rangers in New York Tuesday night.
Speaking of the Yotes, an even deeper value play is Conor Garland ($3,400) likely playing alongside Schmaltz on Arizona’s second power play line. In fact, having each of these guys in your lineup at winger helps you afford a more expensive center pick.
