PGA: ZOZO Championship Course, Key Stats and Values
Value plays were not stellar last week, Jazz and Stuard seemingly left their games at home, while amateur Bae tried to battle back on Sunday but could not escape the +6 over round that doomed him on Thursday morning.
Let’s try and use recent form and stats to our advantage again this week, we don’t have SG data from the CJ, but we can account for that from the previous 12-24 rounds.

DYLAN FRITELLI
Dylan is moderately priced on both avenues this week, the South African has started his 2020 season with two top tens, a missed cut and a disappointing finish at T43 last weekend at the CJ. I like him to bounce back this week having gained nearly +4 strokes Tee to Green over his last 20 rounds. He is ranked 23rd in the field in SG: Approach also in that time frame with a positive differential of +3. Dylan has a proficiency for getting up and down and saving his pars, he is ranked 4th in the field in that regard around the greens, with the surfaces seemingly being slightly harder to hit, he may have a slight advantage coming into the weekend. Recently where he lacks is on the greens, perhaps given a newer course and a fresher outlook will bring a new perspective. The point of the matter is that Dylan needs to turn it on and find some magic if he hopes to catch the eye of fellow countryman and International Team Presidents Cup Captain, Ernie Els.
SHUGO IMAHIRA
Imahira is the world number 52 according to OWGR, and ranks 1st on the Japan Tour for scoring average at 68.15. Over his last 30 rounds, what stands out to me the most is his efficiency on Par 3’s, which earned him a top 5 rank against this very strong field. If he can take advantage of the shorter holes specifically the 5 par 3’s as mentioned in the previous slides, I like him to find himself inside the top 20, especially feeling comfortable on home soil and on a course that displays similar setup compared to the courses in rotation on the Japan Tour. He is second behind Ryo Ishikawa on the Japan tour order of merit and has a recent win at the Japanese Bridgestone Open just two weeks removed and 5 top-ten finishes in his previous 6 events. His form is in the top quality of late, I would take advantage of the reduced price in salary.
(You wouldn’t be wrong punting Ryo Ishikawa the Order of Merit leader either, both are brilliant and bright upcoming stars in Japan, both boast insane potential.)
HAROLD VARNER III
Harold made it to the top 3 in ranks for the initial models I built for the Zozo. He squeezed into a quiet 26th place on Jeju island last week, but overall over his last 5 events has been gaining strokes all across the board nearly in every category quantified aside from the putting. (+3.8 T2g, +2.1 OTT, +0.2 APP, +1.6 ARG) Harold has yet to miss a cut in 2019, and although this will be a no-cut event, he has committed to playing a better quality of golf this season as is evidenced by his recent interviews and his recent form. He is more proficient on the Bentgrass surfaces on the greens with the flat stick as opposed to the Bermuda laden variety. This putting is reminiscent of a certain other player in the field in Tony Finau. I would look to HV3 to continue to put on a solid performance and bring great value with salary relief.

Good luck this week, if you need me you know where to find me, @3Putts4Par.
