2020 NFL mock draft: Justin Herbert goes to the Chargers
By Brad Weiss
The Dallas Cowboys heard all the noise coming from the Philadelphia Eagles heading into their Sunday Night Football matchup with their division rival. In front of a national audience, the Cowboys made the Eagles shut their mouth, pummeling them in a 37-10 victory that showed a disparity of talent on both sides.
As they look towards the second half of their schedule, they have to put the three-game losing streak aside, and focus on the next opponent. If they do that, they have the talent on both sides of the ball to be one of the last teams standing in the NFC. That would lead to a late first round pick.
With that pick, Dallas should look to bring in more talent up front on defense, and Javon Kinlaw continues to climb up draft boards. He has the frame, speed, and size to play all over the defensive line at the next level, and it is imperative that the Cowboys continue to bolster both sides of their lines.
The Miami Dolphins currently hold three first round picks, their own, which could be the first overall, the Pittsburgh Steelers’, which could be a top-10 pick, and the Houston Texans’, which will likely be later in round one. With the Texans pick, they have to do something to improve their offensive line, which was weakened when the team traded away Laremy Tunsil for this selection.
One interesting prospect in this draft class is Alex Leatherwood from Alabama, who could fill a few voids on this Dolphins offensive line moving forward. Leatherwood has the size, quickness, and strength to play tackle, or guard at the NFL level, and the Dolphins certainly need help in both those areas.
Odds are the Dolphins will be bringing in a new franchise quarterback this April, so getting better up front is paramount if they want to develop him. Leatherwood would be a nice fit to begin that growing process, and he comes from a championship program, which are the kind of players this organization needs to bring in.
