2. Road warriors

The Nationals have been road warriors all season.

Washington was just one of six NL teams to have a winning record on the road this season, going 43-and-38 away from Nationals Park, and they used their road prowess as bait for the teams they would meet in the postseason. After dropping the opener against the Dodgers, Washington took the next two at Dodgers Stadium.

Let me remind you that the Dodgers had the second-best home record in the Majors this season, and the Nationals took two-out-of-three games from a team that won 59 games in their home ballpark this season. Next up came the St. Louis Cardinals, one of just four NL teams to win 50-plus home games this season.

The Nationals took the first two games at Busch Stadium, which for most came at a surprise, but shouldn’t have been a surprise for anyone who followed baseball this season. The Nationals are a strong road team, and although they were in a building that has been mostly hostile to its guests this season, Minute Maid Park didn’t faze Washington.

That is more than enough reason to believe that the Nationals could take both games in Houston. But there is one more reason why folks should believe the Nationals have a great shot at winning it all this year.
