FanDuel NBA Breakdown: Cash Game Core

I always like to find three guys who I feel really good about from a matchup and price standpoint to use in my cash core. Point guard and center are two positions that I often pay up for in cash games on FanDuel and we see two elite players in those spots tonight that I am going to lock into my cash lineup.

PG – Luka Doncic (9.9k)

Luka is one of my favorite plays on the slate tonight and FanDuel has finally made him a point guard, which is kind of a bummer because last year we got away with playing another point at the shooting guard position when we used him.

He looked great in the preseason with a 33% usage rate and it’s very clear the Mavs want the ball in his hands on just about every possession. He and his new teammate Kristaps Porzingis have shown some great chemistry so far and they have an elite matchup against a bad Washington team tonight. Doncic will be an 11k player at some point this season, so he may seem expensive but he’s actually probably cheaper than he’s ever going to be. At 1.46 fantasy points per minute this preseason, he’s the best fantasy producer at the position ahead of even Ben Simmons.

C – Joel Embiid (11.2k)

Speaking of Simmons, he has a poor history against the Celtics, but his teammate Joel Embiid is the guy I want tonight. He’s the most expensive center on the board, but his 32% usage in the preseason is the most by any big man tonight. He’ll face a defensively-inept Enes Kanter inside and the only answer that Boston ever had for him was Al Horford, who is now his teammate. The center position is loaded today, but I’ll go all the way up to Embiid in cash games for his massive floor.

PF – Bam Adebayo (6.9k)

Bam is going to be the man for Miami this year with Hassan Whiteside gone to Portland. He already was the man last year, too, and a staple of my cash lineups. Averaging 1.34 fantasy points per minute this preseason, he’s not far off from Kristaps Porzingis territory. I expected to see him around 8k tonight and was really surprised he’s under 7k, especially after watching him rack up big stat lines in the preseason. He will never score a ton of points, but he is a lock for a double-double and is great at picking up assists, steals, and blocks to really round out his production.
