NBA DFS Picks and Pivots – Game Stack

If you are stacking the Nets, then you simply have to run it back with Karl-Anthony Towns ($18K) who has arguably the highest ceiling on the slate, with demonstrated 60 point fantasy upside in this match-up as he proved last year when he rocked Brooklyn for a 20-20 game. Now, with DeAndre Jordan in tow, the Nets no longer have to run out Jared Dudley against opposing bigs so the match-up should be different but remember KAT is still THE offense for Minnesota and it showed in the second half of last year once Jimmy Butler left town as Towns had a team-leading 32.2% usage rate which was over a 4% spike from his season-long mark.

More from DFS

You know who else is gone? Derrick Rose, which means Jeff Teague ($11.3K) has a much clearer path to all the PG minutes he can handle. Last year with Butler and Rose off the court , Teague was a fantasy point per minute producer and has a clear path to 30+ minutes with only Shabazz Napier backing him up. Teague also has had some serious success against Kyrie in his career, putting up 35+ fantasy points in 7 of his last 8 meetings against Irving dating back to 2016 including two games of 50+ fantasy points.

In general, Minnesota’s depth chart is underwhelming so this is one of those rare teams where I think we could see the starting unit all locked into 30+ minutes which is a lock for KAT but it also props up the value for fringe players like Robert Covington and gulp, Andrew Wiggins

As I mentioned yesterday in Picks and Pivots, FantasyDraft requires you to roster players from three different teams and if there is a one-off player I am going to have the lock button on tonight it is Pistons big man Andre Drummond ($15.4K) who feels entirely too cheap against the Pacers.

The bid news here is Blake Griffin is OUT which means, all the Drummond we can fit in. Last season, when Griffin was off the court, Drummond saw a 2% usage bump and put up 1.43 FP/M. The biggest beneficiary actually may be Reggie Jackson ($9.8K) who saw a 5% usage bump and lead the team with a 30.3% usage rate while putting up 1.1 FP/M.

Lastly, if you need value, with Blake out tonight it was expected Markieff Morris ($7K) would step into the starting lineup but he is questionable with an injury of his own. Assuming Kieff can suit up, you have a near minimum priced player with a starting role on a slate we are going to want value.
