Fantasy football lineup advice: Tight End

BOOM:

Austin Hooper, ATL vs. SEA

I know what you’re thinking – DUH. Hooper has been brilliant in 2019, leading all tight-ends with an average of 17.2 fantasy points per game. However, there’s been panic throughout the fantasy community on what to do with the breakout star this week in the wake of Matt Ryan’s ankle injury. As of now, it’s still anyone’s guess whether or Atlanta’s starting QB will play, but if he doesn’t, does that mean Hooper is no longer a viable option?

More from Fantasy Football

Absolutely not. With Mohamed Sanu now in New England, that’s just one less pass-catcher owners have to worry about taking looks away from the emerging TE. While Seattle’s defense has been stout, they’ve been generous to the tight-end spot, allowing the fifth-most points to the position up to this point. No matter who’s throwing Hooper the ball, expect him to put together another strong effort.

BUST:

Eric Ebron, IND vs. DEN

Trying to match a dominant 2019 season where he saw career-best numbers, Ebron has proved to have a nose for the end-zone even with Brissett as the helm. He’s secured three touchdown catches through six games, but his value has been largely dependent on scoring. He’ll continue to battle for snaps with Jack Doyle after running 13 less routes than the latter in Week 7.

Alike his quarterback, Ebron gets a brutal matchup with the Broncos. Denver ranks in the top-10 of the league against TEs, as they’ve mustered just over 10 FPPG. Although they aren’t in the elite tier against the position, the Broncos’ pass D (aside from their game against KC) has really turned things up a notch. The Colts’ offense has been better than expected to this point, but a down-week is coming, and it might just be this week.

Sleeper:

Josh Hill, NO vs. ARI

Not exactly a household name at the TE position, Hill filled in for the ailing Jared Cook in Week 7 as the Saints’ starting tight-end. He was rather productive catching passes from interim starter Teddy Bridgewater, hauling-in each of his three targets for 43 yards and a score. He’s a nice flier this week going against Arizona, a team that’s yielded a league-high 22.2 FPPG to the position.
