DFS Fantasy Football: Tight Ends to Sit

Greg Olsen (CAR) @ SF

While Olsen has managed to produce at a moderate rate and has remained healthy this year, this week is going to hit him hard. The San Francisco 49ers are a young and talented group that has done exceptionally well against tight ends this year.

They’ve given up the least number of passing yards per game to tight ends with their disciplined brand of defense. Although Kyle Allen is an effective quarterback, that’s only when you factor in his running ability.

He’s currently 28th in passing yards (225.2/gm) and 28th in red zone attempts as well. This will definitely hurt Olsen big time, which is why I’m advising folks to avoid starting him this week.

Eric Ebron (IND) vs. DEN

I pretty much saw this one coming from all along, as I’m sure most of you folks did too. Ebron’s wonderful 2018 season is looking more and more like an anomaly  as he has just 13 catches for 206 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

The Colts are relying more on their run game and other receiving options as well, especially in the red zone as Ebron has gotten five targets within the 20-yard line all season long. As tough as this might be to believe, but the Broncos have been alright against opposing tight ends as they are in lower-half for receiving yards surrendered per game.

The touchdown-dependent tight end is not getting the opportunities he was in 2018. Maybe it also has to deal with the downgrade in quarterback quality from Andrew Luck to Jacoby Brissett.

While Brissett is a capable quarterback to run this Colts’ offense, he is still nowhere near the caliber of what Luck was. Either way, Ebron hasn’t been the same this year and I’m afraid it will remain that way.
