Duds

De’Aaron Fox (vs. POR – $7,900 on DK; $8,000 on FD): The loss of Marvin Bagley III is huge and makes me worried for the Kings. I like Fox overall, but Portland’s defense is going to be all over their backcourt and the price is too high when Kemba and Mitchell are right below him on DraftKings. FanDuel, I like guys like Tatum and Conley over him.

LeBron James (vs. UTA – $9,500 on DK; $11,200 on FD): I’ll rarely go against The King, but it’s a high price to pay on a night with plenty of top talent. And James has a tough matchup against a very good Jazz defense. The only two guys above LeBron are KAT and Davis. I don’t think LeBron finishes with the 3rd highest total on the night.

Derrick Favors (vs. DAL – $5,700 on DK; $6,400 on FD): Favors played far less than expected in the opener against the Raptors and that is worrisome. If the minutes are not there, the production won’t be there and the price is still a tad too high as both leagues expect him to play starters minutes.

Robert Covington (at CHA – $5,600 on DK; $6,400 on FD): Covington’s game is great in real life, but doesn’t always translate to DFS. The matchup is great, but it feels like a KAT and Wiggins night. There is a lot of strong talent around Covington’s price and I’m a bigger fan of guys like Rubio and Prince (DK) or Millsap and Payton (FD).

Thomas Bryant (at OKC – $6,600 on DK; $6,700 on FD): The Thunder defense is solid and Bryant will have his hands full with Adams, who should have a bounce back game after being invisible offensively against the Jazz. There’s a lot of great value at center due to Kanter and Ayton being out. Grab that value and spend elsewhere instead of taking a mid-tier player like Bryant.
