Wide Receivers

Marvin Jones and Zach Pascal were the top two receivers in fantasy football last week. Marvin Jones and Zach Pascal. So clearly this position was tough to nail last week and I got just three of the top 10 receivers (Michael Thomas, DeAndre Hopkins, and T.Y. Hilton).

I did mention liking Corey Davis last week with Tannehill in at QB, and he jumped up into the top 10 himself. Others like Alex Erickson, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling in their were very surprising. Tyler Lockett performed well, as did John Brown and Amari Cooper (to some degree).

Allen Robinson surprisingly stayed hot with Trubisky coming back at QB and facing a tough matchup with Marshon Lattimore and the Saints, but his production came mostly in garbage time. My top two receivers from last week, Cooper Kupp and Julio Jones, disappointed with just okay performances.

The pairing of Watson and DeAndre Hopkins should be a popular one in DFS this week against those Raiders. Hop got back on track a bit last week but should really break out in week eight. Michael Thomas, Julio Jones, and Chris Godwin are fixtures at the top of this list no matter their opponent, while Thomas has the best matchup of the trio this week.

John Brown should be able to capitalize on an easy matchup for the second week in a row as he goes up against the sorry Eagles secondary. After a career game in week seven it’s hard not to have Marvin Jones towards the top of this list against the Giants. Obviously we aren’t expecting four touchdowns again, but one or two should put him right back in this range. On the other side, I like Golden Tate coming out of the slot or even outside against the Lions after what we saw the Vikings do to them last week.

We will get to see how Courtland Sutton takes over as the number one receiver in Denver with Emmanuel Sanders out of town. I think he will do well this week against the Colts. Sanders will look to make a good debut against the Panthers, but I don’t have super loft expectations for him this week, although he could surprise and have a dominant game.

Corey Davis, the Rams receivers, and Kenny Stills all have pretty favorable matchups as well and should be considered when setting your season-long and daily fantasy football lineups.

I’m not super high on the Panthers receivers this week against San Francisco and it will be interesting to see how the Chiefs wideouts fair with Matt Moore at the helm against a very good Packers pass defense. The Browns receivers will go up against the incredible Patriots defense, so the matchup isn’t optimal but they may be relied upon heavily if the Browns want to compete in this game.
