Tight Ends

While Aaron Rodgers stole the show at Lambeau last week, Darren Waller had arguably an even more impressive day. 7 catches, 126 yards, and two touchdowns from the Hard Knocks star was enough to make him TE1 by nearly double the amount of points second place scored. I had Waller ranked seventh.

Tight ends like Eric Ebron, Kyle Rudolph, and Jimmy Graham who many may have drafted as starters finally had good showings last week, ranking two, three, and four, while Hunter Henry had another solid game as TE5 (one spot from where I had him ranked).

Shockingly, it was Rhett Ellison that got the benefit of the Cardinals matchup and not Evan Engram. In similar fashion, Dallas Goedert greatly outscored Zach Ertz in another unpredictable week of tight end play for fantasy football.

  1. Darren Waller OAK vs HOU
  2. Travis Kelce KC vs GB
  3. Evan Engram NYG vs MIN
  4. Austin Hooper ATL vs SEA
  5. Hunter Henry LAC vs CHI
  6. George Kittle SF vs CAR
  7. Zach Ertz PHI vs BUF
  8. Josh Hill NO vs AZ
  9. Greg Olsen CAR vs SF
  10. Gerald Everett LAR vs CIN
  11. Eric Ebron IND vs DEN
  12. Jimmy Graham GB vs KC
  13. Vance McDonald PIT vs MIA
  14. T.J. Hockenson DET vs NYG
  15. Dallas Goedert PHI vs BUF
  16. Jonnu Smith TEN vs TB
  17. Darren Fells HOU vs OAK
  18. Noah Fant DEN vs IND
  19. Ricky Seals-Jones CLE vs NE
  20. Dawson Knox BUF vs PHI
  21. Cameron Brate TB vs TEN
  22. Ben Watson NE vs CLE
  23. Luke Willson SEA vs ATL
  24. Mike Gesicki MIA vs PIT
  25. Jack Doyle IND vs DEN
  26. Trey Burton CHI vs LAC
  27. Jordan Akins HOU vs OAK

  29. Ryan Griffin NYJ vs JAC
  30. Geoff Swaim JAC vs NYJ

Waller should be able to keep it rolling in a shootout at best and garbage time filled game at worse for the Raiders against the Texans. Matt Moore will likely rely on his big tight end, Travis Kelce, against that good GB secondary. Evan Engram should get back to form (assuming he’s healthy) against a Lions D that made Kyle Rudolph TE3 a week ago.

I also like Austin Hooper vs SEA, Josh Hill against that Cardinals defense that loves to give up fantasy points to tight ends, and Gerald Everett vs CIN who is really coming into his own as the number one tight end for the Rams and a real top target in their passing game. I also think Vance McDonald could break off another SportsCenter type catch and run against the Dolphins this Monday night like he did against the Bucs last year.

I’m not quite as high on George Kittle and Zach Ertz this week compared to where they were drafted. I am also avoiding guys such as Trey Burton and Tyler Eifert who may have been drafted as starters but have next to no production so far this year.
