Dan’s Dumpster Dives: FanDuel NBA value plays
Yup. That’s a picture of George Hill. Gross. I hope you took some antacids before getting into this NBA article because every play is going to be somewhat unappealing. They’re necessary though. In some cases, your nice porterhouse has to come with something like Brussels sprouts. Hopefully, we can upgrade that side to a loaded baked potato though without an up-charge.
George Hill — FanDuel $4000
Revenge narrative anyone? That’s right…George Hill played for the Cavs for a bit and was worse there than he has been for the Bucks actually. He also has basically no ceiling really but you can’t expect anything too crazy at this price tag. He’s been averaging 29 minutes a game and I think he’ll continue to see plenty of run given the lack of Brogdon. He’s a solid defender on the perimeter and really all he has to do is get a few rebounds, give Giannis the ball for easy assists, and maybe a steal or two. If he limits his turnovers and somehow gets up to 10 points you’re looking at 5x value there. By the way…when I say value or 5x value we take the price tag in terms of thousands (4k here) and multiply by five. We want George Hill to get to a minimum of 20 fantasy points to reach value. If you have a guy that costs 10k, you want him to get at least 50 fantasy points etc.
Bryn Forbes — FanDuel $4400
I’ll be honest I have not had an opportunity to watch the Spurs yet in their first two games but looking at Forbes stats really surprised me. I thought the Spurs got Dejounte Murray back plus they have Derrick White who I thought was pretty good last year. However, Bryn Forbes has been getting a ton of run at this price tag and he’s making the most of it. It’s only been two games but 32 minutes each go and an average of 25 fantasy points on FanDuel is fantastic at this price. That’s more than the 5x we referenced earlier. Sign me up for a matchup against the Blazers who have historically had a backcourt you want to attack.
