Dan’s Dumpster Dives: FanDuel NBA value plays
Dennis Schroder — FanDuel $4600
It is funny because the other guy in this picture, Chris Paul, is now a teammate of Dennis Schroder’s. Schroder is a bit misleading this year because they got to absolutely blow out the Warriors (who look terrible and I am here for it). Schroder went nuts against the Golden State Warriors going for nearly 50 fantasy points on FanDuel in just 25 minutes. That’s incredible and likely an outlier. I would not roster him in realistic hopes of him repeating that performance against the Rockets. However, the Thunder are going to need all the scoring help they can get. This game is full of revenge narratives as we have Westbrook going up against his old team and CP3 going up against his old team. This should be some good television at least but I would bet the Thunder get blown out here. Either way, I think Schroder’s minutes are safe and he’s been getting between 25-30 minutes. Assuming he can get close to a point per minute, he should be safe for more than a 5x return for you if you need the value at shooting guard.
Wesley Matthews — FanDuel $4300
Have I mentioned how much the Bucks miss Brogdon? Matthews is not an adequate replacement for him but he should be a decent 3-and-D guy. Given that FanDuel has bumped a bonus to 3-point shots made plus you get three points per steal and block, Matthews might be ok. I’ll be honest though…I don’t love the play and I definitely would not play him with George Hill. I just think the Bucks will blowout the Cavs and will get easy turnovers and transition points here. Transition points are so nice because they’re fastbreaks that often start with a rebound or turnover, include an assist maybe or a 3-point shot. All of those are juicy fantasy point producers and in an ideal situation, Matthews will be involved in creating some of those turnovers and assists or on the receiving end and getting up some 3s.
