Fantasy football picks: Week 8 MNF Steelers vs. Dolphins

Mason Rudolph – This is a pretty obvious play on a single game slate against the terrible defense that is the Miami Dolphins. They give up the second most points against quarterbacks, ranking dead last in DVOA overall, and against the pass. This team is one of the worst that we have had the pleasure of witnessing in quite a long time. My only major issue with Mason is that the Steelers have kept a pretty tight leash on him, and he has yet to reach 30 passing attempts, with a high of 229 yards in four games. He has had some pretty tough match-ups though, in three of the four games. What I do like is that he has seven touchdowns on such a limited amount of opportunities, and has increased his completion rate in the past two games. This might be the perfect team to give Mason that big game the Steelers have been waiting for.

James Conner – The real person who has benefited from the absence of Big Ben is this man. He is logging 60% of the snaps on the year, which is a little bit low, but he did have a slight injury that limited his snaps in a couple of games. His most recent performance was his best on the season, where he saw a season high in rushing attempts, and seven receiving targets also, that translated into over 100 total yards, and two scores. This is about as good of an individual match-up as he will see all season, as Miami gives up the third most points against running backs, and they rank last in rushing DVOA, at 9.1%. The game script should also work in his favor, and this is one of my favorite plays on the day.
