5. Kenyan Drake to the Arizona Cardinals from the Miami Dolphins

The fire sale continues down in South Beach. The Miami Dolphins aren’t about winning games in 2019. They are one of two winless teams through Week 8 of the NFL season and have shipped one of their better players to another non-contending team before the deadline.

On Oct. 28, Miami sent running back Kenyan Drake to the Arizona Cardinals for a conditional 2020 NFL Draft pick. The Dolphins get compensation for a player they didn’t feel was a viable fit for them long-term in their organization. Arizona gets a running back the Cardinals desperately need.

The Cardinals needed a running back in the worst way after seeing backup running back Chase Edmonds go down with a hamstring injury in Sunday’s loss to the New Orleans Saints. Arizona starter David Johnson has been banged up for much of the last two years, as he’s dealing with an ankle injury.

Look for Drake to start for Arizona in Week 9 on Thursday Night Football against the undefeated San Francisco 49ers. Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury has figured out creative ways to get his running backs involved in the offensive game plan. Drake should benefit from this trade, as he upgrades at quarterback to Kyler Murray, the man who replaced Josh Rosen in Arizona this year.
