2020 NFL mock draft: Buccaneers select Jake Fromm in first round
By Brad Weiss
The San Francisco 49ers built up their roster over the past few drafts, as general manager John Lynch was tasked with turning the franchise around. Three years after his hire, the 49ers could be the class of the conference, as they are the only team remaining with a perfect record.
When looking at this roster, the one thing that has really stood out is how good this defense has played. While Jimmy Garoppolo has been quite pedestrian in terms of his statistics, he is managing games well, and with how good the 49ers are up front on defense, he just needs to take care of the ball.
In the 2020 NFL Draft, the 49ers will likely be picking late in round one, and they should look to bring in one of the better safeties this draft class has to offer. Xavier McKinney from Alabama is a guy who could fit in nicely in their defensive backfield, as they continue to make the defense one of the best in the game.
The New England Patriots handled their business against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, winning their second game in six days. The defense once again proved to be one of the best in the business, holding Baker Mayfield in check, and they are currently the only undefeated team left in the AFC.
Based on this fact, the Patriots are currently slated to pick very late in round one, and they should look to bring in another offensive tackle. Trey Adams should have been a first rounder last year, but a torn ACL ended his season early, so expect him to be in the first round conversation once again next April.
The Patriots are in line to win their seventh Super Bowl with Tom Brady under center, and if he is going to continue to lace them up, bolstering the offensive line makes sense. Usually, we would have the Patriots getting better on the defensive side of the ball, but their unit is elite, and the offensive line is not.
