Running Backs to Sit

Jordan Howard (PHI) vs. CHI

Most people would feel confident having a player on their fantasy roster gearing up to play against a former team. This game between the Eagles and Bears has revenge written all over it. Between Jordan Howard being let go by Chicago and the Eagles winning that dramatic playoff game this past January, makes for a great rivalry showdown. Despite all this hype, I don’t feel Howard is going to be all that productive in Philly’s backfield this Sunday. The Bears have one of the stingiest run defenses out there and Howard isn’t an efficient runner at all, averaging 4.43 rushing yards per game. Don’t expect the slow running bruiser to get much yardage in this contest. The only silver-lining is possibly a goal line score, but that is taking quite a gamble and I would feel much safer playing a back who won’t have to rely solely on touchdowns to have a good fantasy day.

Mark Ingram (BAL) vs. NE

As good of a season that Mark Ingram is having with his new team in Baltimore, this is the week where he may hit a snag. The Ravens are taking on the hottest defense in the league this Sunday, stifling all competition in their path. Some may say that New England’s schedule has been way too easy for them, and the Ravens are the first true test for this defensive squad of the year. While it may be true that the Patriots have had a lucky break with the first-half of their schedule, we can’t discount what they have been able to accomplish in this span. Ingram has shown some inconsistencies this season despite playing well overall, but just like New England, this could very well be Ingram’s first true test against a solid run defense. He has played bottom tier teams prior to this matchup such as Miami, Arizona, Kansas City, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati. Take it as you may, but Ingram may be better off riding the bench this week.
