SANTA CLARA, CA – OCTOBER 27: San Francisco 49ers Defensive End Nick Bosa (97) celebrates a sack during the NFL game between the Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium on October 27, 2019 in Santa Clara, CA. (Photo by Cody Glenn/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images) /

Guess which defense finished first in week eight of fantasy football? Yeah, the New England Patriots. Baker Mayfield did all but hand them the ball, and with the weather making it tough for Nick Chubb to hold onto the ball the Pats were outstanding once again.

The other undefeated team had the second best fantasy defense in week eight, as the 49ers trampled the Panthers. The Steelers (who I had as DST1) ended up fourth, and the Jaguars wound up top three.

Switch out the Rams in my rankings for the Eagles and I correctly predicted the entire top 10 (not including the Vikings who already played Thursday)! Pats, Niners, Jags, Steelers, Titans, Lions, Saints, Chargers, Colts, I had them all top 10.

Let’s see if we can have a repeat performance this week.

  1. 49ers vs AZ
  2. Cowboys vs NYG
  3. Bills vs WAS
  4. Panthers vs TEN
  5. Patriots vs BAL
  6. Titans vs CAR
  7. Eagles vs CHI
  8. Jets vs MIA
  9. Broncos vs CLE
  10. Browns vs DEN
  11. Seahawks vs TB
  12. Redskins vs BUF
  13. Packers vs LAC
  14. Bears vs PHI
  15. Vikings vs KC
  16. Jaguars vs HOU
  17. Lions vs OAK
  18. Dolphins vs NYJ
  19. Colts vs PIT
  20. Steelers vs IND
  21. Cardinals vs SF
  22. Texans vs JAC
  23. Ravens vs NE
  24. Raiders vs DET
  25. Buccaneers vs SEA
  26. Chargers vs GB
  27. Chiefs vs MIN
  28. Giants vs DAL

The 49ers defense is the real deal and gets the young Cardinals on a short week. The Cowboys get a turnover-prone Daniel Jones and the Redskins get their own turnover-prone QB in Josh Allen. I also like the Eagles vs CHI, the Jets vs MIA, and both the Browns and Broncos against inexperienced and/or turnover-prone QBs.

I would avoid the Vikings vs KC, Chargers vs GB, Ravens vs NE, and Texans vs JAC. I may kick myself once again, but I don’ think the Patriots will finish as fantasy football DST1 in week nine, having to face Lamar Jackson, Mark Ingram, and the Ravens offense.
