Fantasy Football lineup advice: Week 10 boom or bust
Quarterback
Boom: Jameis Winston, TB vs. ARI
It’s always risky starting Winston due to his up-and-down production, but he’s proven he can perform well this season when the matchup is right. Don’t look now, but the former no. 1 overall pick has started to find his groove as of late. The Bucs nearly upset the Seahawks last week on the road, and Jameis’ 335 yards and two touchdowns were a big part of that. We’re all aware of his talent, but it’s just been a matter of limiting mistakes – and he did just that last week.
Thankfully for Winston and his talented crop of pass-catchers, they’ll be back at home this week against an Arizona team yielding the most fantasy points per game in the league (26.3) to enemy signal-callers. Even with the return of Patrick Peterson, this secondary has been brutal. Tampa struggles with running the ball, meaning another high-volume game for Winston and co. is in-store.
Bust: Jared Goff, LAR @ PIT
Goff has been largely inefficient in his fourth professional season, currently sitting as the overall QB17 on the year. Although he posted a serviceable 22.9 fantasy points in his last outing, this contest against the Bengals marked the fourth straight game he’s completed under 60 percent of his passes. Goff’s is known for elevating his play at home, but this week, he won’t get that luxury.
When Goff visits the Steel City on Sunday, he’ll be going against a vastly-improved Pittsburgh defense. Minkah Fitzpatrick has provided this team with a much-needed spark in their secondary, as they’ve yielded just 11.2 FPPG to opposing signal-callers since acquiring him. The Steelers are playing inspired football right now, something that doesn’t bode well for Goff. In a non-ideal road matchup, owners should search for better options in Week 10.
Sleeper: Brian Hoyer, IND vs. MIA
Jacoby Brissett‘s Week 10 status is up-in-the-air following an MCL sprain against the Steelers. If he’s out, it’ll be Hoyer who gets to take advantage of this tasty matchup with the Dolphins (allowing the sixth-most FPPG to QBs). Hoyer played admirably filling in last week, tossing three touchdowns after Brissett’s departure. If you’re desperate at quarterback, you could do much worse.
