Buy Low

Lauri Markkanen

The Finnish product is currently ranked 106th on Yahoo with averages of 39 percent FG, 81 percent FT, 1.7 3PG, 14.9 PPG, 7.4 APG, 2.1 APG, 1 SPG, 0.5 BPG, and 1.9 TPG.

Compare these numbers to his rookie averages: 43 percent FG, 84 percent FT, 2.1 3PG, 15.2 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 1.2 APG, 0.6 SPG, 0.6 BPG and 1.2 TPG

At just 22 years old, there is no way Markkanen does not improve his rookie numbers in year three of being an NBA pro, particularly in the percentages category which would bump up his scoring, and his rank, significantly.

Move players like Gallo, Barton or Wiggins to see if that is enough for the Lauri owner to accept.

D’Aaron Fox

Fox is currently averaging 18.2 PPG and 1.1 3PG on 43 percent shooting from the field and 71 percent FT shooting. He is also averaging 4 RPG, 7 APG, 0.8 SPG, 0.6 BPG and 4.1 TPG.

His percentages, assists, and steals are all below last year’s numbers, and he is accumulating far more turnovers as well. The turnovers and lower assists can be attributed to him learning the new system. The Kings are one of the slowest-paced teams in the league this year, ranking 27th in possessions per game. That is slow compared to last year when they were fifth. That is not good for Fox, or any of the King’s players. I am a little worried that it may not change that much, but at the same time, maybe Walton is just trying to teach the young team a few things?

Walton is getting a fair amount of heat for how his Kings are playing (deservedly so) but let’s remember that this guy still helped coach a Golden State Warriors team to a NBA record 73-9 win season (including 19-0 run) when Kerr was recovering from back surgery. Yes, it was the Warriors (pre KD), true, but we are still talking about the all-time historically best regular season. That year, the Warriors were second in pace under Walton, so there is reason to believe that things will turn around as everyone acclimates. But I am getting very nervous.

Players I would look to get Fox for include, Jamal Murray, VanVleet and Ricky Rubio But I am nervous about this one compared to the other three buy lows. Still though, you have to pull the trigger on those kinds of trades if you have the opportunity to do it.

Other buy low names include

Jrue Holiday

LaMarcus Aldridge

Rudy Gobert

Brook Lopez

Buddy Hield

Mike Conley

Jonas Valanciunas

Myles Turner

Miles Bridges

Bradley Beal
