DraftKings college football quarterback picks November 14

Top Tier:

Sam Howell is easily the most proven quarterback on this slate, which is strange considering that he’s a freshman. Howell also has the worst matchup with a really good Pitt defense. I understand a fade here since there is no rule that we have to use two quarterbacks. This is a slate where it may pay not to. Howell has at least 32 DraftKings points in four of the last six games. The two that held him under? Duke and Clemson.

Middle Tier:

Buffalo’s defense has really made a name for themselves, but it is their rush defense that is superb. The pass defense is above average, but not dominant like the run D is. That leaves a little bit of hope for Dustin Crum. I tend to think that Buffalo is good enough to get out to a lead here, which would leave Kent throwing to catch up. Crum is a good enough passer to put up some good numbers here.

If you have read any of my articles before, you pretty much know how I feel about Kenny Pickett. He’s average at best. The nine touchdowns to eight interceptions prove that. North Carolina is much weaker against the run, so I see Pitt running more here. If by some chance they get behind enough that they are forced to throw, well, that’s when Pickett is usually at his worst. Pickett may have a good game, but if we’re gambling anyway, I’d rather use someone with more upside.

Bargain Shoppers:

One glance at the numbers by Kyle Vantrease and you may wonder why I have any interest at all. Well, first off, he’s not Kenny Pickett. Second, Vantrease has only started four games, so when you take that into account, his numbers aren’t so bad. Vantrease has averaged 16.52 DraftKings points per start. His dud against Akron in a game in which the Bulls ran most of the game really drags that number down. Just like last night, the cheapest starting QB is nowhere near the worst.
