DFS fantasy football start/sit advice for week 11 2019
Defenses to Start and Sit
Start:
New York Jets @ WSH
This doesn’t occur often but I have the New York Jets in the starting column this week. The Jets defense does have some good pieces to them, primarily Jamal Adams. Last week against the Giants, they forced two fumble recoveries and scored a touchdown as well. At the end of the day, the Jets defense finished with 18.0 fantasy points despite surrendering 27 points in the process. Now New York will be traveling to our nation’s capital to take on a horrid Washington Redskins offense led by rookie Dwayne Haskins. The Redskins don’t have much on offense to help support Haskins and that has shown in the three games that he has started prior to this Sunday’s game. In those three games, Haskins has managed to compile just 284 passing yards, no touchdowns, and four interceptions. If things continue to trend in this direction for Washington, the Jets have a legitimate chance to put up some big numbers once again in fantasy.
Minnesota Vikings vs. DEN
Actually, I lied. There may be one other player besides Dalvin Cook you can trust in fantasy on Minnesota and that is their defense from time to time. The Vikings have a fairly solid group that typically puts up modest numbers weekly. This time, Minnesota will be hosting the Denver Broncos who have an offense being currently led by Brandon Allen. With the loss of star receiver Emmanuel Sanders to San Francisco just a few weeks ago, the Broncos don’t possess much on the offensive side of the ball besides Courtland Sutton and Phillip Lindsay. Even then, Lindsay hasn’t been having a strong season himself averaging 14.4 fantasy points per game (17th). The Vikings should have no problem taking care of this lackluster offense who ranks in the bottom-five in points scored (16.6/gm), passing yards (199.6/gm) and total yards (311.4/gm).
Sit:
Baltimore Ravens vs. HOU
Last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Baltimore Ravens’ defense went off scoring a pair of touchdowns, as well as having a pick and two fumble recoveries in the process. They were one of the best starts of the week finishing with a tremendous 23.0 fantasy points on the day. The only problem is, that was against the Bengals and now the Ravens will have to face a real offense against the Houston Texans led by Deshaun Watson.
I will admit that the Ravens have played statistically sound football since about Week 5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Since then, they haven’t produced below seven fantasy points in a game and they have hit the double-digit plateau for three straight weeks. Even so, the Texans have an extremely dangerous offense, and I still believe that Baltimore’s defense does have some holes in them that could very well get exposed on Sunday.
Keep in mind that they allowed a struggling Cleveland Browns club drop 40 points on them as they came away with -6 fantasy points on the day, and that’s after the Chiefs hung 33 points on them for -6 the week before. I am wary about starting this unit this week. If they can shutdown Watson and the crew, maybe my opinion about them will change. Until then, I’m avoiding starting them.
