DraftKings NBA picks November 17: King James III
By Mike Marteny
DraftKings NBA Point Guards:
Best Bets:
Trae Young continues to do everything with Collins out, but he has struggled with his shot for the last two games. On top of that, Young only had six assists. last night. The Clippers are a tough defensive team so I wasn’t lining up to use him last night anyway. Tonight I’m seriously considering it. The Lakers don’t defend the perimeter all that well. The only thing we have to hope for is that Young’s shot starts falling again.
Honorable Mention:
I’m not a big fan of running guards (or anyone, really) at Memphis. This team may be young, but they are a solid defensive squad once again. That said, Jamal Murray could be in line for a larger role if Will Barton sits this one out. Murray’s value is solid anyway, so it’s not like this makes or breaks him. It would be nice to get a little more out of him for the current price. That should happen tonight.
Rookie Ja Morant has back to back games of more than 40 DraftKings points after two duds. Such is the life of a rookie in the NBA. The surprising part is that he did it to the Jazz. Morant is taking over this offense right now. The price is a little higher than I’m comfortable with, but it makes sense considering his current hot streak.
Dark Horse:
Who is going to score for the Warriors? This is one of the worst teams ever, rivaling the Sixers from four years ago. It’s not the front office. It’s just a massive blow of injury after injury. With Russell now out as well, all we have to do is identify the scorers. Hell, maybe even just the volume shooters will do. Alec Burks is the first guy that comes to mind. He can shoot! The shots don’t always go in, but volume means as much as anything tonight.
Washington is one of the worst defenses in the league right now, so I want some of that Orlando value too to get off the Warriors chalk. I keep going back to Markelle Fultz because of the upside. Augustin and Ross are fine, but we know what they are. I’ll chase the upside of Fultz over Washington’s two headed point or Rondo ceding assists to LeBron.
