Heisman rankings: Joe Burrow pads resume, Tua injury opens door for new finalist
10. Brady White, QB, Memphis
This is the first time that Brady White has cracked the top 10 of the Heisman rankings but, in truth, it’s been a long time coming for the Memphis quarterback. All season, he’s been the catalyst for the high-powered Tigers offense and that was again the case on Saturday as the quarterback was dominant in a 45-27 win over Houston that pushed Memphis to 9-1 on the year.
White finished the game going 22-of-33 for 341 yards, five touchdowns and one interception, adding a rushing touchdown to his credit as well. Through 10 games now, White has thrown for 2,858 yards, 28 touchdowns and only five interceptions while adding two rushing scores. That’s more than enough for the general of a great Group of 5 team to crack these rankings.
9. Zack Moss, RB, Utah
Since Utah’s loss to USC on Sept. 20, few teams in college football have been as impressive as the Utes. And running back Zack Moss has remained a massive part of what that team does, the driving force of the offense. On Saturday evening, they continued their dominant efforts as they thrashed UCLA in a 49-3 win in Salt Lake City with Moss again having a big day at the office.
Moss finished the night with 17 carries for 127 yards and two touchdowns in addition to four receptions for 73 yards. Moreover, he did all that with his night ending early in the blowout win. For the 2019 campaign, Moss now has 955 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground along with just shy of 300 receiving yards and another score. He’s been phenomenal, as expected, and deserves a spot in the top 10.
