2. Nashville Predators

While the Nashville Predators already have a future Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender between the pipes with Pekka Rinne, Nashville has struggled to keep the puck out of its net this season. The Predators established themselves as one of the best defensive teams in the league over the past handful of seasons, but it’s evident the Preds could use a change and perhaps in net.

No, we’re not suggesting that Nashville benches Finnish native Rinne; but rather take a chance on Schneider to spice things up in a positive sense. The team could use some energy inserted into its lineup, as it sits in 13th place in the Western Conference standings.

Some friendly competition could be a good thing for Nashville and its No. 35 that’s been the face of the franchise for almost a decade now.

Keep in mind that Devils’ general manager Ray Shero has strong ties down in Nashville. He spent time with the Preds’ front office at one point in time and it wouldn’t be shocking if he and Nashville’s GM, David Poile, look to strike a deal.

Nashville could find lightning in a bottle with Schneider if they give him a shot. A fresh and vibrant area such as the Music City could be the right medicine that Schneider needs, too.

At this point, if you’re Nashville, what does the team have to lose? The Preds could acquire Schneider at an affordable price while having New Jersey tackle parts of Schneider’s salary – because the reality is that Jersey will have to move Brodeur’s predecessor sometime in the future if things don’t work out.
