Duds

Carmelo Anthony (at MIL – $3,900 on DK; $3,800 on FD): This is a reverse jinx because I’m a big Melo fan and this salary is so low that he’s really not much of a risk to take. You know he’s going to get shots and he should grab a couple of boards. And even still, he’s giving you nothing because Melo isn’t actually good in 2019. Don’t take him. Unless you believe in my reverse jinx.

Sterling Brown (vs POR – $4,100 on DK; $4,100 on FD): On a slow night, there aren’t many high salary guys to stay away from, especially in this matchup. So you’re basically looking for role players who aren’t going to hit the way you would like them to. And Brown is a guy who I don’t trust in this matchup. I like the starters better and prefer George Hill off the bench.

Kenrich Williams (at PHO – $5,300 on DK; $5,600 on FD): With the emergence of Hayes, Williams doesn’t look quite as good. He’s still putting up solid numbers and the salary isn’t that high. But there’s better value in Hayes and even JJ Redick, who is at a similar price.

Kelly Oubre Jr. (vs NO – $6,700 on DK; $7,300 on FD): Oubre Jr. is just a little too expensive for the inconsistency he’s providing at the moment. He has a high ceiling and he could be worth it given the matchup but there is no real guarantee with Oubre and that’s the scary thing on a night like this.
