NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds for November 23
Duds
Trae Young (vs TOR – $9,800 on DK; $9,600 on FD): It’s a back to back for Young and he’s up against a very good defense. He’s coming off a game where he struggled against Detroit and even though great players have short memories, there are too many red flags for a salary this high on a night where there is better value.
Jimmy Butler (at PHI – $8,600 on DK; $9,600 on FD): I’m torn on Butler. I believe in the revenge game (though he liked Philadelphia) and Butler has obviously shown a high ceiling this season. But the Sixers are great against the position and being at home helps them on the back to back. I like Adebayo more on the Heat.
Ben Simmons (vs MIA – $7,700 on DK; $8,600 on FD): The Heat are great against the position and they know how to scheme Simmons to make him frustrated. He’s always a triple-double threat, which is what makes him a tempting option. But the matchup is worrisome.
LaMarcus Aldridge (at NY – $7,200 on DK; $7,500 on FD): The matchup is good. But Aldridge has shown nothing more than average for the majority of the season. And even though the Knicks aren’t great against the position, it’s a back-to-back for the Spurs. Until the Spurs can find another level, their top guys are too much of a risk.
Ja Morant (vs LAL – $6,700 on DK; $8,000 on FD): The Lakers might be on a back to back and their defense looked shaky against the Thunder on Friday. But this Lakers defense has been very good for the majority of the season and they gave Morant a lot of trouble in the first meeting. He’s not a bad option and will probably get you vlalue, just not sure beyond that.
