West Ham face Tottenham at London Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 23. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
The Premier League season returns following the international break. The biggest news over the international break was Tottenham’s decision to fire manager Mauricio Pochettino and replace him with the controversial but successful Jose Mourinho. On Saturday, Mourinho will lead his new team into London Stadium to play West Ham.
The Hammers have 13 points in their first 12 games. The disappointing start has put manager Manuel Pellegrini on the hot seat. West Ham have lost two straight games and have only two points in their last six games. The Hammers winless streak can be linked to Lukasz Fabianski’s injury. Roberto has been a poor replacement for the Polish keeper. Since Roberto took over for Fabianski, West Ham have conceded 13 goals. If Pellegrini does not solve his team’s defensive flaws, he could be out of a job. Upfront, the Hammers will rely on record signing Sebastian Haller. The French striker leads West Ham with four goals this season.
Tottenham are 14th in the table with 14 points. The awful start will be extremely difficult for Spurs to overcome. For Tottenham to qualify for the Champions League, they have to make up an 11 point deficit. If Spurs have any hope of finishing in the top four, they will have to go on a long winning streak. Mourinho will install his defensive system as part of his vision for Tottenham. The style might not be visually appealing but it has produced results for Mourinho in the past.
