Fantasy Football – Tight End

Boom: Greg Olsen, CAR vs. WSH

The 34-year-old Olsen has proven to be a reliable security blanket for Panthers’ QB Kyle Allen this season, seeing an average of seven targets over his last four games. He hasn’t posted any head-turning numbers, but he’s been serviceable, scoring 11.2 FPPG during that stretch. At the tight end position, you’ll take that all day long.

Carolina has seen some pesky defenses in recent weeks, but that won’t be the case in Week 12 with the Redskins coming to town. While Washington pulled out an upset victory over the Lions last week, they’re still giving up the 10th-most FPPG to the tight end spot this season. This is a matchup that you can bank on Olsen to produce.

Honorable Mention: Kyle Rudolph (MIN @ SEA), Evan Engram (NYG vs. GB)

Bust: Mark Andrews, BAL vs. SF

Andrews’ production has heavily hinged on the success of the Ravens’ run-game, which lately has looked utterly impossible to stop. Albeit, the massive tight end is still one Lamar Jackson’s favorite go-to weapons in the passing game. Andrews has looked like a surefire TE1 at times this season, but has also disappeared on several occasions. Even last week when Baltimore’s aerial-attack was clicking, he was able to muster just 6.5 fantasy points.

This clash between two of the NFL’s best teams is one you wont want to miss. Look for the Ravens again focus on establishing the run against what’s been one the NFL’s best front-sevens. Because of Andrews’ volatile production this season, it’s tough to trust him against the 49ers’ No. 1-ranked defense against tight ends (giving up only 6.7 FPPG).

Dishonorable Mention: Vance McDonald (PIT vs. CLE), Jason Witten (DAL vs. BUF)

Sleeper: Jack Doyle, IND vs. TEN

No Eric Ebron (placed on IR) means Doyle no longer has to fight for snaps with anyone at TE for the Colts. This gives him a nice boost coming into this showdown with the Titans, a defense ceding the 12th-most FPPG to the position. This isn’t a smash-spot, but Doyle should get plenty of looks underneath the coverage as Jacoby Brissett likes to use his tight ends.
