Phoenix Suns

Having a legitimate head coach with actual NBA players

For those who continually questioned whether Devin Booker was actually good, isn’t it incredible what having NBA-caliber teammates and a legitimate head coach will do? Those changes have brought forth a more efficient Booker than ever before, posting 24.8 points and 6.1 assists per game on .518/.429/.950 shooting splits.

Having an actual point guard like Ricky Rubio is not only setting Booker up for easier looks, but also allowing him to conserve energy for the defensive end (where he’s actually been competent!) by not having to carry the scoring and playmaking load for the Phoenix Suns.

Deandre Ayton‘s 25-game suspension should’ve been a death knell to the Suns’ season in week one. Instead, Aron Baynes is filling in capably with a career year, Dario Saric is reminding people he’s good, Kelly Oubre Jr. is taking the next step and Monty Williams has the Suns at .500 despite facing the second-hardest schedule in the NBA so far. Suns fans have a lot to be thankful for right now, nagging injuries and all.
