Whether it’s a kitchen calamity or a holiday decor emergency, find out if your local Home Depot will be open on Thanksgiving this year.

Holidays are magnets for things going wrong around the house at the worst possible moment. Home Depot is usually the place to go when you have to fix something at the last minute, but don’t plan on making a trip on Thanksgiving Day because Home Depot is closed on Thanksgiving.

Like many companies, Home Depot observes Thanksgiving Day company-wide so that employees can enjoy the holiday with family and friends, which is a very good thing because come Black Friday the holiday shopping rush begins.

Home Depot is a very popular destination on Black Friday. From huge savings on everything from tools to appliances and home furnishings to holiday decor, you can check off almost everything on your holiday shopping list in one stop. Stores will open at 6am at most locations on Friday morning, but always be sure to check your local store’s hours because hours will vary by location.

Something to consider when shopping at Home Depot on Black Friday is that some contractors work on the biggest shopping day of the year, so while you’re checking off your shopping list there are contractors, plumbers, gardeners and electricians working that day who will also be shopping for things they need on the job site. That means that you might find a crowd first thing in the morning, but not everyone will be running inside for doorbusters.

Home Depot also observes Christmas Day, which is a nice way to thank employees for their work throughout the long holiday shopping season.

If you think you might need something before Thanksgiving Day from the home improvement superstore, make sure you shop on Wednesday night because you won’t be able to shop on Thursday, and then you’ll have to brave the crowds on Friday to grab that plunger you need.
