If you need a quick snack before hitting the road to Grandma’s house, or if you’re still hungry after dinner, McDonald’s is there for you on Thanksgiving.

You never know when the hunger is going to hit, and sometimes waiting until Thanksgiving dinner just isn’t going to cut it. Thankfully, you can count on McDonald’s to be there for you on Thanksgiving Day for all of your dining needs.

Most McDonald’s locations will be open on Thanksgiving Day. Franchisees can set their own hours, so always call ahead if you’re not sure about the holiday hours at your nearest location. For the most part, McDonald’s locations will be open in the morning and afternoon, and some will either keep their normal closing time or they could close early to allow employees a chance to celebrate the holiday with family and friends.

Since the addition of McCafe coffee bars inside McDonald’s locations, McDonald’s is the perfect alternative to heading to Starbucks on Thanksgiving Day, since Starbucks is always crowded. And if you’re looking for a coffee before getting on the road, so much the better: You can easily drive through McDonald’s and get a coffee along the way.

McDonald’s is also a place where people who don’t have Thanksgiving destinations can gather for a warm meal. It’s not the traditional holiday fare, but for some people having a meal at McDonald’s with friends is special. With so many stores and restaurants closed on Thanksgiving, knowing you can rely on the Golden Arches to bring people together for the holidays.

Keep in mind that hours for McDonald’s locations inside malls or other stores will likely have different holiday hours, and the restaurants inside Walmarts that open for early Black Friday shopping on Thursday night will not necessarily be open just because the store is open. Always be sure to call ahead to verify that a location is open before heading out.
