NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds for November 29
Duds
Damian Lillard (vs CHI – $8,700 on DK; $9,300 on FD): Every sign will point to Lillard being a good pick. But the problem is, he might be too good of a pick. Lillard won’t have to do much in this game for the Blazers win, meaning McCollum, Carmelo, Hood, Whiteside, and others can do some heavy lifting while Lillard just fits in. The Blazers are in chemistry mode right now, not Lillard takeover mode.
Tony Bradley (at MEM – $5,200 on DK; $4,800 on FD): Unless he’s starting, there’s no reason to take him. And I don’t envision him starting. The DraftKings salary is absurdly high for someone who might not get off the bench. There is no reason to take him given all the talent available on Friday. One of those fun DK mistakes because they had too much turkey.
Giannis Antetokounmpo (at CLE – $12,000 on DK; $12,700 on FD): Giannis will dominate, I’m sure. But he might dominate a little too much, leading to limited minutes. He’s the highest salary on the night and if his time is limited, he likely won’t end up as the top scorer. With such a big night of action, there will be better value options, though you can never go wrong with Giannis.
LaMarcus Aldridge (vs LAC – $7,100 on DK; $7,600 on FD): Aldridge will probably get his consistent numbers but it’s a tough matchup against the Clippers and while consistency is good, you need guys with a higher ceiling and less of a bust risk on a night like this. He’s been dreadful against the Clippers this season as well. Too many red flags on a loaded night.
Blake Griffin (vs CHA – $7,500 on DK; $7,400 on FD): Griffin has the same problem in Aldridge in that he’ll probably get decent numbers, and even though his ceiling is higher than Aldridge’s given the matchup, he also hasn’t shown that ceiling for most this season. He’s not logging big minutes either, which is certainly a problem as well.
