The Manchester derby takes place on Saturday as Manchester City and Manchester United renew their rivalry. The Citizens have overtaken United as the dominant team in Manchester. City have won two straight Premier League titles but are already 11 points behind Liverpool in the title race. The Red Devils are fighting for a spot in the top four but after a slow start to the season are eight points behind Chelsea.
Manchester City’s hopes of a threepeat took a massive hit last weekend after settling for a draw against Newcastle. Pep Guardiola’s team have scored a Premier League best 43 goals this season, 20 more than United has. Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling have combined for 17 goals this season. However, Aguero missed Tuesday’s game with an injury and could also miss Saturday’s game. If Aguero is unable to go against United, Gabriel Jesus will start up front. The Brazilian striker scored twice against Burnley and has five goals this season.
Manchester United are playing every game for their manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knowing that a loss could cost the Norweigian manager his job. United defeated Tottenham 2-1 on Wednesday, handing former manager Jose Mourinho his first loss with his new club. Marcus Rashford scored a brace against Spurs. Rashford leads United with nine goals this season and will be a key to United’s attack on Saturday. While United have played well at Old Trafford, they have been awful in their away games. The Red Devils have only one win in their seven away games and have picked up six points.
