2. Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State

Justin Fields has put together some incredible outings throughout his first season with the Ohio State Buckeyes. He’s been a wizard at finding the end zone with both his arm and legs from start to finish. However, his most impressive effort and undeniable Heisman moment came on Saturday night in the Big Ten Championship Game as he spearheaded a comeback against Wisconsin to capture the conference title.

With the Buckeyes trailing 21-7 at halftime, Fields turned it on as a passer, throwing for all three of his touchdowns in the second half to lead Ohio State to 27 unanswered points and the 34-21 victory over the Badgers. Fields finished the game with 299 yards and those three scores, giving him 50 total touchdowns and over 3,400 yards of total offense on the season. He’s earned his ticket to New York City.

1. Joe Burrow, QB, LSU

The numbers for Joe Burrow are obviously remarkable in his second season at the helm of the LSU Tigers. But even more impressive has been his consistency. No matter the stage, no matter the opponent and no matter the week, Burrow has been up for the challenge. An SEC Championship Game matchup with Georgia on Saturday afternoon in Atlanta was no different.

Burrow, as he’s done to everyone, sliced up the Bulldogs to capture the SEC crown, going 28-of-38 for 349 yards with four touchdowns while also adding 41 rushing yards. And his playmaking on tape may have been even more impressive, consistently making magic happen. With 4,715 passing yards, 48 passing touchdowns and only six interceptions on the season, Burrow is going to be the 2019 Heisman Trophy winner — it’s all about who joins him as finalists.
