If you are like most fans and curious as to who will be using a lightsaber in Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, don’t worry. We are one with the Force and possess all the answers you seek.

Whether you like Star Wars or not, everyone can agree that lightsabers are pretty cool. These laser swords can cut through anything and are powered by Kyber crystals. When the Jedi Order was thriving, it was customary for Jedi to build their own. These weapons are among the most powerful in the entire galaxy.

Lightsabers are primarily used by Jedi and members of their Dark Side rival faction, The Sith. There have been some exceptions in the past, but it is mostly those who are one with the Force who choose these weapons as there go-to for combat. But who will have one in the new movie?

The leading players in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker who wield lightsabers like seasoned professionals are Rey and Kylo Ren. Kylo has a custom made piece while Rey rocks a familiar vintage model. But we do see her carrying a Darth Maul-esque double red lightsaber in a cloak she probably raided from Palpatine’s closet in the trailers.

Speaking of the good old Emperor, he apparently is making his triumphant return to the Star Wars saga. Now, we haven’t seen him use a lightsaber since Revenge of the Sith against Mace Windu because he seemed to have adopted the lightning bolt style in Episode VI. However, it’s not out of this world to imagine he could pick one up in the next film.

Maz Kanata had in her possession Luke’s lightsaber he lost in Empire Strikes Back. It’s not crazy to believe she knows how to use it, given how formidable she can be. She’s in The Rise of Skywalker so we may see her wield one, too.

While it isn’t his primary weapon, we have seen Finn utilize a lightsaber in The Force Awakens, so if the opportunity arises, he knows what to do. Fellow Resistance fighter General Leia, who has shown significant control of her Force powers, has yet to be seen in a film wielding a lightsaber, but maybe her final run will give fans something they’ve wanted to see since Return of the Jedi.

Luke Skywalker is probably going to show up along with some other fallen Jedi in ghost form, like Yoda or Obi-Wan, and they have all shown great skill with their lightsabers when they were alive. Force Ghosts have no need for them, but that could change.
