Wondering if Anakin Skywalker will make an appearance in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker? Don’t worry, we got you covered!

Anticipation is an all-time high as Star Wars fans everywhere can’t wait to witness the end of an era as the final chapter in the Skywalker saga will soon be upon us. This has led many to speculate on who will show up, considering this one is supposed to satisfyingly close everything out that was started in the previous trilogies.

Many characters have come back in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, including Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia. After Han and Luke met their demise in Episode 7 and Episode 8, Leia will be returning, but she won’t be doing it alone, as we know Billy Dee Wiliams will be reprising his role of Lando Calrissian for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

But there is one iconic character who has yet to make an appearance, and he is kind of the reason this whole thing started. Anakin Skywalker, the father of Luke and Leia, who eventually becomes the Dark Sith Lord Darth Vader, has been dead since Return of The Jedi –with the only sightings of him in the new films being his mangled helmet gathered from the Death Star wreckage.

It seems audiences will be going back to the Death Star, at least what’s left of it in The Rise of Skywalker. This, along with the return of Palpatine, has led some to believe that Anakin may make an appearance in Episode 9. It would make sense and a lot of people think if director J.J. Abrams wants to close out this saga properly, he should somehow include the prequel character.

There are some sources that claim Anakin will be in the Rise of Skywalker; however, nothing has been confirmed, so take this with a grain of salt. If Anakin is in Episode 9, they are most likely going to keep that a secret, and fans will just have to see the film to see if he makes the cut.

However things play out, it will be interesting to see if Anakin does actually make it into the final cut as well as see what other memorable characters may or may not show up in Episode 9. One thing is for sure is that Star Wars fans will not want to miss Rise of Skywalker when it releases on Dec.20, 2019.
