8. 2005 Rose Bowl – Texas vs. Michigan

This will not be the first time Vince Young will be on this list, but it was his first time in the Rose Bowl as his Texas Longhorns faced Braylon Edwards and Michigan Wolverines. Surprisingly, this was the first time these historic programs had ever met each other, and they did not disappoint.

It was only 7-0 at the end of the first, but from that point on, the teams would score 68 points. Both stars came to play as Edwards was terrific with ten catches for 109 yards and three touchdowns. While Young fully introduced himself to the college football world as he picked the wolverine defense apart, particularly on the ground rushing for 192 yards and four scores.

There was no big comeback in this one, but just a consistent back and forth between two great teams. With three minutes left and trailing 37-35, Young was able to get Texas into field goal position with two seconds left. Then it was up to senior kicker Dusty Mangum who, despite being iced twice by Michigan nailed a 37-yard field as time expired to give Texas the win.

This, of course, would not be Texas’ last time making memories in the Rose Bowl, but it was no doubt an all-time game.
