Is Leia in Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker?

Wondering if Alderaan princess-turned-Resistance General Leia Organa will be in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!

After Leia showcased some serious Force powers in The Last Jedi, fans everywhere were understandably curious as to whether or not the first lady of Star Wars would be in The Rise of Skywalker. After tragically losing the actress who plays the former Alderaan princess, Carrie Fisher, in 2016, many were wondering how the studio would close out her iconic character’s story.

Luckily, they brought J.J. Abrams, director of The Force Awakens, back to close out this series of Star Wars films. The news also came that Billy Dee Williams, who played the original Lando Calrissian in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, will be reprising the role once again in The Rise of Skywalker. So the question on everyone’s mind was, will General Leia lead the Resistance one last time?

For those that knew Leia would be in Episode 9, the Force is strong with you because that is what is happening. It has been confirmed that Leia will be in The Rise of Skywalker using re-purposed footage from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi to bring her back.

Not only is Leia back, but she appears to be holding a lightsaber at some point in the film. Could she be about to duel her son Kylo Ren or is she finishing what Luke started by training Rey? Only time will tell, but it is good to have her back for one more adventure.

However it goes down, it will be interesting to see how they handle Leia’s final Star Wars film and what other memorable characters may or may not show up in Episode 9. One thing that’s for sure is that Star Wars fans will not want to miss Rise of Skywalker when it releases on Dec. 20, 2019.
