68. Utah State Aggies, 79.82

  • Roster Strength: 81.35 (74)
  • Team Performance: 80.62 (64)
  • Head Coach Rating: 76.48 (105)

NFL executives and talent evaluators will be glued to the Frisco Bowl to see Utah State quarterback Jordan Love in what may be his final collegiate start.

Love got the first-round buzz during the preseason throwing for 32 touchdowns, six interceptions, and averaging 8.6 yards per pass attempt as a sophomore in 2018, but he took a step back statistically speaking under new head coach Gary Andersen and his staff. This year, Love has averaged just 7.1 yards per attempt and has connected on 17 touchdown passes and thrown 16 picks.

If Love decides to return to school in 2020, there’s still a chance this will be his last game with the Aggies. Friday, Dan Whetzel reported Love could pursue a grad transfer next year, with Texas Tech (led by former Utah State head coach Matt Wells), Oklahoma and Houston among the potential landing spots.

67. Georgia Southern Eagles, 79.89

  • Roster Strength: 80.53 (83)
  • Team Performance: 77.85 (90)
  • Head Coach Rating: 83.26 (44)

If not for a 24-21 Georgia Southern victory over Appalachian State in Boone on Halloween Night, the Mountaineers might be headed to the New Year’s Six. The Eagles ran for 335 yards in the victory over their biggest rival and finished the regular season ranked No. 8 in the country in rushing offense (261.50 yards per game).

We can expect quarterback Shai Werts, and running backs J.D. King and Wesley Kennedy III, all of whom ran for more than 600 yards and five touchdowns this season despite each missing multiple games, to be ready to run again in the Cure Bowl against Liberty.
