Duds

Kelly Oubre (vs POR – $7,000 on DK; $7,700 on FD): Oubre has been up-and-down in recent contests. And while the Blazers aren’t great, they are good against the position and they’ve been good against bad teams. I’m not sure if the Suns are a good or bad team at the moment, but considering that they are the Suns, I’m leaning towards them being bad. The ceiling is high for Oubre, but there is more guaranteed value elsewhere with better matchups.

Tristan Thompson (at TOR – $5,600 on DK; $7,300 on FD): The DK salary isn’t too bad. But the FD salary is far too high. Thompson might get you value, but he’s unlikely to offer much more than that. And the matchup certainly doesn’t help as the Raptors are great against the position. There’s no reason to take him on FD unless you’re feeling lucky.

Jimmy Butler (at MEM – $9,100 on DK; $9,400 on FD): Butler always has big game potential but the Grizzlies aren’t terrible against the position and this feels more like a game where Adebayo produces a monster outing given the matchup. It’s tough to go against Butler given how well he’s played this season but I have a gut feeling that he won’t deliver quote what you need from a high salary guy in this matchup.

Ja Morant (vs MIA – $7,300 on DK; $8,200 on FD): It’s a tough matchup for Ja against a good defense in Miami. He’s been up-and-down, which is to be expected as a rookie. The ceiling is high because of the team he’s on and the opportunities he gets. but there are better options below him with better matchups and more guaranteed value.

James Harden (vs SA – $12,900 DK; $12,400 on FD): D’Antoni mentioned tired legs after Saturday. Well it’s not the third game in four nights for the Rockets and we know how much of a load Harden carries for them. This feels more like a Westbrook game as he had Saturday off and should have fresher legs coming into this game. Harden is always going to be a strong pick because of his offensive ability. But there are red flags in this matchup.
